If only they sold this guy as a single so I can use him as my Shield Captain on Jetbike! |
This is another variation of the lists I have been looking at for the Custodes force.
This one requires 7 Boxes of models rocking in at £225 from Games Workshop direct, so less than £200 if you can find some discounts!
Ok, so this hobby isnt cheap, but at least these can rock in as one of the cheaper armies out there.

The list doesn't really do subtle.
It drops in 6 deployments, so stands a reasonable chance of +1 or going first, and given its mobility you can hide your three bike units from LoS to help survive the shooting.
The Plan
The Jetbikes start on the table top, while all of the Allarus Terminators will be held in reserve.
If you go first I would think the list will work best dropping down all of your Allarus terminators to ensure they get Re-rolls of a 1 to hit, and the -1 to be shot at from the Vexilla, and position them next to one of the two following targets:
a: In an objective game if the enemy has a load of Troops I would go for as many Morale checks as possible - not sure this is the best way to do it, but eliminating the bigger squads puts you in a good place.
b: In other games I would advise dropping down 12" away from the unit you want to shoot, and 9" away from what you want to charge with the Allarus
The Allarus unit is throwing out 20 Str 4, D2 shots, and 10D3 Grenade Launcher shots, so it has the ability to split its fire nicely, or to focus something down.
With smart use of Stratagems, this unit can snipe out a Character you want dead, those D2 shots can quickly whittle away key Targets (like an Ancient in a Marine army...)
You want to save 2 Command Points to let you split the remaining Allarus into individual units, as each can hold an objective against anything other than troops, and with potentially 12 targets running around in Turn 2 your opponent is going to have to think about smart allocation of their firepower.
The Jetbikes can then swoop in to help mow down some key targets and get a few more units locked up in combat.
The big risk here is that you are putting your warlord right into the fight, but I dont think that they would do it any other way based on the fluff.
The Shield-Captain has a 3+ Inv save, and -1 to hit which should help increase his ability to survive... to a point.
So what do you think? Too in your face, too crazy?
