Throne of Skulls - 1500 Points

So 1500 points it is, not my favourite point size, but I figured  I would post some options that I have debated for each of my armies.

Beginning with my Grey Knights, now normally my Grey Knights have a torrid time at 1500 or less, all the way down to 1000 points where they seem to hold their own.

So building a workable 1500 point list is one of my aims.

First up:

Total; 1500

Grandmaster Modrak
Ghost Knights x 4, Brotherhood Banner

Inquisitor, Terminator Armour, Psycannon, Daemonhammer, Servo Skull, Psyker

Strike Squad x 5, Psycannon

Strike Squad x 5, Psycannon

Interceptors x 10, Psybolt Ammo, Psycannon x 2

Dreadknight, Personal Teleporter, Heavy Incinerator

Dreadknight, Personal Teleporter, Heavy Psycannon

The aim:
Well basically throw models forward at the enemy. Actually not quite the plan, but this list gives me some serious manoeuvrability which in turn means I can look at isolating sections of the enemy army.

For the most part I find that this is best tactic as my Grey Knight armies are rarely anything other than outnumbered by my opponents.

It also has a couple of Heavy Support and Fast Attack which means in the Big Guns Never Tire & The Scouring that scoring units are easier to come by, so my Grand Strategy can be used in other ways.

Weaknesses… well it could come up short against true hordes with the lack of flamers, and I could find that it comes up well short against a flyer heavy list… but since the easiest way to deal with flyers would be to whack in an Aegis defence line with Quad gun that would be 100 points to find from somewhere….

So what do you think?

Like you, I don't like 1500pts, but you've done a good job, but I worry for the vulnerability of your troops, but as a fellow GK player, relying on the strategy to create extra scoring units is not reliable, I would prefer to see 2 10man squad of strikes which can then break down into 4x5 with a squad of interceptors as back up.

Hiya Embolden,

1500 points suits some armies and not others. I dont like building the lists on the one hand, but on the other I keep trying these things that are meant to challenge us lol.

The Troops are massively vulnerable, and I concur that boosting the strike squads would make a huge difference, the downside is that then the Shock n Awe part of this list will be diluted. At the moment, 2 DK, 10 Interceptors & 6 Terminators in your deployment zone on turn 1... planning as many games as i can to see how it does, and will try and post some updates here as well.

Don't forget, you can always deep strike the strikes, not turn 1, but a second wave maybe?

But like I said before, I like the list as it is :)

That was one of my ideas for them, especially against lists with lots of firepower.

The Strikes are unlikely to help my Turn 1 offensive so in some games may be better to keep em safe n sound.
